Washington US - U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi said on Saturday the House was prepared to approve a sweeping healthcare overhaul that would extend insurance coverage to millions of the uninsured.

"Today we will pass the Affordable Health Care for America Act," Pelosi on the House floor hours after President Barack Obama met with Democratic House members on Capitol Hill ahead of what could be a close vote later on Saturday or early Sunday.
