WordPress Business Tips: WordPress App for iPhone or iPod Touch

The latest iPhone and iPod Touch are ideal for managing
your online business when you're away from home, or any
time that you don't want to be sitting at your computer.

With improvements in storage, file sharing, and dozens of
excellent free and low cost business apps to choose from,
you can leave your laptop at home and feel secure that your
online business will be easily accessible wherever you go.

I bought an iPod Touch to manage my online business,
including my WordPress blogs. The purchase turned out to be
one of the best investments I've made so far. I often use
it at home because it's great to be able to stand up while
working on my business instead of spending hours sitting in
a chair.

As long as I have a wi-fi connection, I can use my iPod
Touch to access e-mail, do market research, make phone
calls using Skype, check the stats of my sites, visit
websites of interest and manage my WordPress blogs with the
free WordPress app.

To install the WordPress app, you need iTunes (free to
download and install on all computer systems). After iTunes
is installed you simply search for the WordPress app in the
iTunes store, download it, then plug your iPhone or iPod
Touch into your computer and wait for iTunes to complete
the installation.

The WordPress app allows you to manage comments, edit posts
and pages, compose posts and pages and preview results
before publication. You can insert pictures into posts and
pages and, if you like, set an option to automatically
resize. You can also unpublish posts and pages.

Writing long posts or pages can be a bit cramped on the
tiny iPhone or iPod Touch screen and keyboard, but if you
tend to write short, simple posts, or simply want to edit
posts and pages you've composed already, this probably
won't concern you.

However, it's important to keep in mind that there is no
WYSIWYG so if you have complex formatting, you'll need to
know HTML. The app is therefore best for basic blog
management, which is usually all that you need when you're
away from home.

As the popularity of the iPhone and iPod Touch grows in the
online business community, there will be more apps to help
manage WordPress blogs and the feature set will improve and
expand. In the meantime, the WordPress app is great for
basic site management.
