Manchester City manager mark Hughes says a transfer deal for AC Milan's
Kaka makes sense on both soccer and business levels.

Manchester City manager Mark Hughes said on Thursday (January 15)
that a deal to sign AC Milan's Brazilian midfielder Kaka was still on and the
deal made sense from both soccer and business points of view.
Earlier, reports from the United Arab Emirates, where Manchester City's
owners are based, said that the deal for the player had collapsed following
talks between the clubs this week.
"The level of money involved is obviously something that the club
and the owners feel, certainly from a football point of view, it works,
without a shadow of a doubt because he's a good player," Hughes told a
news conference.
"From a business point of view I'm sure it works as well. It's not
something that we think we're just going to throw money at it, it's because
we've looked at the situation from a football point of view and a business
point of view, all structures where we want to take the club and maybe that's
the reason we've done it, because it all fits," Hughes added.
Media reports have said City, the richest club in the world after being
taken over by the Abu Dhabi United Group, had bid 100 million euros ($132
million) for the 26-year-old, who won the Ballon D'Or and FIFA World Player of
the Year award in 2007.
Kaka told Sport Mediaset on Wednesday he was happy at the San Siro.
"I want to grow old at Milan," he said. "My aim is to
become the captain of this team. I have already turned down some big
offers."
Hughes expressed frustration at not being able to sign his intended
transfer targets during the permitted period in January and hinted City would
not be pressured into buying as the deadline approached.
"If clubs don't want to sell their players then there's not a
great deal you can do about it. Maybe towards the end of the window situations
change, peoples' attitude to possible deals may change; maybe we'll revisit,
maybe we'll walk away from some deals, that's for us to know and clubs to take
the gamble with."
The manager said with half the transfer window remaining, there was
still time to make deals but he was becoming impatient.
"The little bit of impatience is obviously from my point of view,
ideally we want the players in early so you can work with them, to integrate
them into the team as quickly as possible," he added.
