As the Democratic National convention kicked off on Denver, Republican
presidential candidate Senator John McCain made a guest appearance on the
Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

BURBANK, CALIFORNIA (AUGUST 25, 2008) NBC -
While the Democratic National Convention kicked off in Denver in an
attempt to grab headlines in Denver on Monday (August 25), John McCain made
national TV appearance own.
McCain appeared on NBC's Tonight Show with Jay Leno.
Leno wasted no time taking a jab at McCain's age.
"I know your birth day is this Friday," said Leno as McCain
faked falling asleep.
"We were going to have a cake but the fire marshall said it just
was't safe," he added.
With the joking aside McCain, 71, used the national TV appearence to
say his priority was to keep Americans in their homes in tough economic times.

McCain's Democratic rival Barack Obama last week accused the Republican
senator of being out of touch with ordinary people after he was unable to say
in an interview how many houses were owned by him and his wife Cindy, a
wealthy heiress to a beer distributorship.
