One of the secrets of successful people is that they
develop good habits. They do things every day that help
them to reach their goals. And by doing them each day they
become a natural part of their life. If you learn to do the
same you will be taking an important step towards realizing
your own ambitions.
Sadly most of us develop bad habits pretty easily, and once
you have done so you know how hard it is to get out of
them. But that is only because your subconscious mind
accepts them as the norm and so it is only by consciously
challenging the status quo that you can break out.
However all your experiences and aspects of your life are
there to be learned from, so your knowledge of how you can
so easily develop bad habits should show you how good
habits can so quickly be established and should encourage
you to nurture them.
All you have to do is decide what you want to do and so to
help you get started here are some suggestions for things
that you can do each day:
#1 Be Positive
Always look for the good in people and give praise rather
than criticize. Emotions like jealousy and hate are only
going to emphasize the negative and as your subconscious
mind picks up on them you will be dragged into a negative
mood. Everyone has their good points and by seeking them
out you will gain a great deal.
#2 Cherish the Good Times
Each day you have things happen to you and around you that
are pleasing. It might just be a tasty meal or a smile from
someone, but whatever it is take time to be grateful. Let
the moment linger and actually tell yourself that it was
good and how it made you feel.
#3 Learn Something New
No matter what you have achieved so far it is essential
that you keep gaining knowledge. You should set yourself
challenging goals that require you to learn new things or
attain new skills. So even if it is only a few minutes,
find the time each day to learn. Read a few pages of a book
or a magazine or newspaper article about something new to
you. Or just visit a new website and explore what you find.
Make each day an adventure!
#4 Be Good to Yourself
We all get tied down with responsibilities and commitments
and it is important that we deal with them. But at least
once a day take time out to do something just for yourself.
And accentuate the experience by telling yourself exactly
how it makes you feel. All true goals should be based on
the emotional aspects of achieving them and the feelings
they produce within you. So get into the habit of arousing
pleasing emotions.
#5 Start the Day the Right Way
When you get up in the morning look in the mirror, smile,
and tell yourself that today you will stick to your good
habits. Repeat it a number of times and convince yourself
that you will do it. Then just get on with another great
day.
The last point is the most important. No matter what good
habits you decide to develop, and you should try to think
of lots more of your own, you must have a genuine desire to
follow them and your subconscious mind must become
convinced that you will do them. That way you can look
forward to walking alongside those whose lives are full of
success and happiness.
