Celine Dion kicks off the North American leg of her Taking Chances World
Tour. The 62-date tour is scheduled to last six months.
BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS, UNITED STATES (AUGUST 12, 2008) MARK HAEFELI
PRODUCTIONS -
Celine Dion is back on stage in North America belting out the tunes. The
diva kicked off the North American leg of her Taking Chances World Tour in
Boston on Tuesday (August 12). There are sixty-two dates on the tour that hits
Anaheim, Miami, Toronto and everything in between. It comes right on the heels
of her world tour, in which the singer visited twenty countries. Her latest
outing is in support of her newest release called "Taking Chances"
that came out last November. Dion plays several new songs off that album as
well as crowd pleasers like "My Heart Will Go On" and other greatest
hits.
"Touring the world is very exciting," said Dion. "You
know to sing in front of fifty or sixty-thousand people - the show starts,
you're in the round. You feel the energy, you feel the vibration, you go out
there, you anticipate."
Dion has hired Jamie King, who has directed tours for Madonna, Christina
Aguilera and Ricky Martin to conceptualize the show. It features numerous
costume changes and lots of dancing and color.
"I consider touring a wonderful privilege," said Dion.
"My whole life was based upon me being close to people - seeing their
emotions, being an open book."
Celine Dion who began singing in French and was a major star in her
native Quebec, made her English language debut in 1990. Since then she has
sold close to 200 million albums internationally and has won five grammies.
The six-month tour ends on February 13 in Montreal.
