The latest celebrity news including Will Smith's welcome arrival at the box
office and scandalous headlines from supermodel Christy Brinkley's divorce
trial.
SONY -
"Hancock," the new Will Smith action movie opening ahead
of the July Fourth holiday, seems sure to extend Hollywood's latest hot
streak, keeping the U.S. box office on pace to exceed last year's record
summer. Paul Dergarabedian, president of box office tracking service Media By
Numbers, calls Smith Hollywood's most bankable star.
"Will Smith is truly one of the last movie stars and one of the
few leading men of over the entire course of his career to maintain his
popularity," explained Dergarabedian.
Former supermodel Christie Brinkley took the stand in day two of her
divorce trial from husband No. 4, Peter Cook. The still stunning 54-year-old
Brinkley told the court she was devastated upon learning of her husband's
affair with a then 18-year-old teen. Earlier testimony from Cook included
details about the couple's sex life and pornography.
Another honor for Kylie Minogue. The singer, who recently overcame
breast cancer, received the Order of the British Empire (OBE) at a ceremony at
Buckingham Palace. Earlier this year, Minogue received one of France's top
cultural awards.
It's back to work for Wesley Snipes. A judge ruled that the actor can
leave the United States to work abroad while he appeals his tax convictions.
Back in February, the 45-year-old Snipes was convicted of tax evasion.
