An emotional J.K. Rowling testified in a New York court that she had
stopped working on a new novel because her creativity was stifled by a fan's
bid to print an unofficial encyclopaedic companion to her Harry Potter series.
The 42-year-old British author is suing an independent publisher, which plans
to publish "The Harry Potter Lexicon," a 400-page reference book
written by a fan.
Actor Wesley Snipes' next role may be one behind bars. U.S. prosecutors
are recommending that the actor serve a maximum three-year prison term and pay
a 5 million (U.S.) dollar fine for failing to file his income taxes. Snipes,
who starred in the "Blade" movies series, was convicted in February
on three misdemeanour counts of wilfully failing to file federal tax returns
for 1999-2001.
Rocker Pete Wentz is denying that his fiancee, pop star Ashlee Simpson,
is pregnant as reported in celebrity magazines days after they announced their
engagement. A spokesperson for Simpson confirms the engagement, but says
"beyond that, there is nothing to add."
Battle lines have been drawn over the upcoming Glastonbury music
festival. Despite lacklustre ticket sales, organizers for the traditionally
rock showcase are defending their choice of rapper Jay-Z to headline the
event. Oasis star Neil Gallagher, recently went so far as to call it a wrong
choice. Others have rejected Gallgher's views of those of a has-been.
