Kylie Minogue opens up about her misdiagnosis and the death of Charlton

Jay-Z and Beyonce tied the knot, or at least they're thought to be
married, although there is no official word yet from the couple. The real
question in the music industry is what effect the power marriage will have on
their career. There is some concern that the union could effect record sales,
as in the case of the husband and wife team of Jennifer Lopez and Marc
Anthony.
Aussie pop superstar Kylie Minogue revealed that her breast cancer was
misdiagnosed. The singer, who's in the U.S. to promote the April 1st release
of her new album 'X', told talk show host Ellen Degeneres that at first
doctors told her that she was fine. Minogue, who was forced to cancel her 2005
concert tour after falling ill, was later diagnosed with breast cancer after
getting a second opinion. She received a year of treatment and has made a
strong recovery.
Archbishop Desmond Tutu and actor Richard Gere joined thousands at a
pro-Tibet vigil in San Francisco where they both encouraged heads of state to
boycott the opening ceremony at the Beijing Olympics this summer. Many human
rights groups were in San Francisco, the only U.S. city to host the Olympic
torch as it makes its way to the games in August, with reasons for opposition
ranges from China's rule in Tibet to Beijing's policies toward Darfur and
Burma.
Oliver Stone's upcoming feature "W" is already creating
controversy even before a single frame has been shot. The film's script, based
on George W. Bush's years in the White House, reportedly portrays the sitting
U.S. President as a foul-mouthed, reformed drunk, obsessed with baseball,
Saddam Hussein and the conflicted relationship with his dad. The controversy
is over the accuracy of that depiction. Reactions to the script from Bush
biographers have been mixed. Filming starts in two weeks.
George Clooney joined his co-star Renee Zellweger for the UK premiere of
his film 'Leatherheads'. Unfortunately for Clooney, the slapstick comedy,
which he starred and directed in, got sacked at the U.S. box office.
Pop singer Janet Jackson was met in Japan by exuberant fans at the
airport. Over twenty screaming Japanese fans showered Jackson with photos and
banners since she has not visited Japan in a year and a half. Jackson later
travelled to Tokyo where she helped in teaching some fans her dance moves.
A former bodyguard for Lindsay Lohan is suing the actress. He claims the
"Freaky Friday" star owes him more than 55,000 U.S. dollars in pay
and expenses for protecting her from fans and paparazzi.
Academy Award-winning actor Charlton Heston died on Saturday night at the
age of 84, his family said. Heston, a former president of the influential
National Rifle Association lobbying group, died at his home in Beverly Hills.
The actor, who won the 1959 best actor Oscar for the title role in "Ben
Hur" in which he did many of his own chariot race stunts, had announced
in 2002 that he was suffering from symptoms of Alzheimer's disease.
