The latest celebrity news including the postponement of Britney Spears' custody hearing, Amy Winehouse making travel plans and the annual Oscar luncheon
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES (REUTERS) - A hearing in the child custody battle between Britney Spears and her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, was postponed on Monday (February 4, 2008) because the troubled pop star remains hospitalized for psychiatric evaluation. The celebrity web site TMZ.com reported the hearing was postponed because Spears, who on Thursday (January 31, 2008) was taken to UCLA Medical Center for a 72-hour mental evaluation, had been ordered to remain there another two weeks.
Troubled singer Amy Winehouse has temporarily left rehab in search of a U.S. visa. The 24-year-old singer, who's scheduled to perform at the upcoming Grammys in Los Angeles, met with U.S. embassy officials in London, reportedly to try and get a visa so that she can attend Sunday's award ceremony. Winehouse is nominated for six awards.
Lastly, Hollywood royalty gathered in Beverly Hills for the 27th annual Academy Awards nominees luncheon. The event, which is considered one the highlights of the pre-Oscar season, offers nominees an opportunity to sit down with fellow nominees and do lunch in a casual atmosphere. Best actor nominee George Clooney also took time to weigh in on the upcoming presidential primaries.
"Well, I'm an Obama guy, for a year-and-a-half and I'm very excited for his campaign," explained Clooney. "The more that he is out there, the better his numbers get and the more people get to know him. I'm really encouraged by this but I don't think anything is going to be decided. It will come down to Ohio, probably."
The Academy Awards take place on February 24.
