The latest celebrity news including Britney's guest role on a television
sitcom, the death of actor Paul Scofield and a sneak peak at the latest Bond
film.

(CBS/FOX TELEVISION) -
There's lots of Britney news to talk about. The troubled singer, in
another comeback effort, has landed a guest role on the U.S. sitcom, "How
I Met Your Mother." Spears was said to be a total pro, showing up early
and knowing all her lines.
Meanwhile, a judge granted Britney's father, Jamie Spears the power to
sell off the fleet of cars the singer has collected. Spears' father, who's
been put in control of Britney's affairs, said the cost of maintaining seven
cars is just too much.
Remember the headlines earlier in the week about Britney and Mel
Gibson's dinner meeting? Well, apparently it wasn't the first time the stars
have come together. People magazine said Gibson and his wife have reached out
to Britney in an effort to help her. Mel and Britney used to be neighbors in
Malibu.
British actor Paul Scofield, famed for his Oscar-winning portrayal of
Sir Thomas Moore in "The Man For All Seasons," has died at the age
of 86. Scofield had been suffering from leukemia. Scofield later went on to
star in Robert Redford's 1994 film Quiz Show and the 1996 screen adaptation of
Arthur Miller's The Crucible.
Owen Wilson's latest effort, "Drillbit Taylor" hits North
American movie screens this weekend. But, you'll be hard pressed to find the
star doing any publicity for the comedy. The Los Angeles Times reports that
the studio was afraid that interviewers would focus on Wilson's apparent
suicide attempt last summer.
Lastly, with the studio moving up the release date for "Quantum of
Solace" to October 31, here's a sneak peak from some location shots of
the upcoming James Bond flick.
