The latest celebrity news including a medical emergency for Naomi Campbell, plus Eric Clapton invited to North Korea, iTunes shows retail clout, "Rambo" sidelined in Britain and David Beckham makes an African pit stop.

FEBRUARY 26, 2008:

Naomi Campbell is recovering in Brazil after emergency abdominal surgery. The 37-year old supermodel was admitted on Monday (February 25); the hospital confirmed that Campbell was in its care but did not elaborate on her condition. Meanwhile, Campbell's surgeon told a Brazilian news agency that he removed a cyst, and that the procedure went off without a hitch.

North Korea has invited Eric Clapton to rock its capital, according to a spokesman for the country's British embassy. The proposed concert would make the 62-year-old singer the first Western rock star to play Pyongyang. The request comes as the New York Philharmonic made a high-profile stop in North Korea, with the performance shown live on the country's only television station.

In business news, a big coup for Apple Computer. The tech giant has announced its iTunes download service has grown into the second-largest music retailer in the United States, beating out both Target and Best Buy. Number one remains retail monolith Wal-Mart.

Bad news for the executives behind the latest entry in the "Rambo" franchise. The action flick flopped at the UK box office after a major British cinema chain decided not to screen the film because of a corporate dispute. "Rambo" took in slightly more than a million pounds in its opening weekend, less than half of what would have been expected.

And finally, a group of soccer enthusiasts in Sierra Leone had the surprise of their lives when David Beckham stopped by for a quick pick-up match. The superstar athlete was visiting the country in his role as celebrity activist for UNICEF.
