The woman with the world's longest legs helps kick off Guinness
World Records Day in Times Square on Monday (November 10). Svetlana
Pankratova is from Russia, but ever since being dubbed "Queen of the
Longest Legs" and setting the Guinness World Record for the woman with
the longest legs, Pankratova has been traveling around the world showing off
her accentuated assets.
Pankratova's long legs and short skirt drew a large crowd of admirers
as she made her U.S. debut in New York's Times Square. As part of Guinness
World Record Day, Pankratova's 51.9 inch legs were measured and she was
awarded an official Guinness World Record certificate. Pankratova says her
lengthy legs are both appealing and challenging. "I'm glad that the
whole world will see my beautiful long legs finally. It's been challenging to
live with those legs, you always have to find the right clothes, to travel, so
some reward. The whole world is going to see my legs," Pankratova said.
Part of the challenge of having world record legs, Pankratova says, is
needing to have her pants custom made. Pankratova also says when she travels
by plane, she often asks for a seat in an emergency exit row so she'll have a
few extra inches of leg room.
Pankratova stands 6 feet 5 inches tall, and she says her height and
long legs have not held her back romantically. "I have a boyfriend who
is 6' 1", so I'm fine. I don't really mind dating a shorter person. He
doesn't have to be taller, obviously not someone who is like 5' 2"
either. It's not a problem."
Pankratova's legwork is part of the runup to Guinness World Records
Day. On that day, more than 200,000 people from all over the world display
their unusual attributes and talents. "We're celebrating all sorts of
things such as the world's longest legs, which we measured just now, to the
world's longest dreadlock, to the largest simultaneous kiss, to the largest
cup to tea, to all sorts of things going on. All in celebration of not only
Guinness World Records, but Guinness World Records Day," says Stuart
Claxton an official Guinness World Record judge.
Guinness World Records day is officially Thursday, November 13th.
