How Promotional Products Can Fit A Theme
Author: Gareth Parkin
Many conventions and fairs encourage booths to have a theme, or
to stick to an overall theme, which creates an interesting
atmosphere for those attending. Even if they don't, the right
theme can make your company more interesting, drawing in more
people for a look at your booth. The trick is to be fun without
sacrificing professionalism. If you've choosing a theme for your
company's newest campaign, you can use promotional products to
help you emulate that theme. There are a number of ways in which
you can to this.
If you've at a loss for choosing a theme, one thing you can do
is look at the promotional products or business gifts you
already have in storage. Have you been giving out colorful mugs?
A luau theme might be great. Are your pig-shaped stress balls a
hit? Why not try rodeo or farm theme? Of course, not every
promotional product fits nicely into a single theme, but don't
let that stop you. Even black pens can be used if your take the
time to decorate the container with themed wrapping paper.
You can also choose to purchase promotional products based on a
theme you've chosen. Here, remember that function means more
than the theme itself. If you have a 1960's theme, tie-dyed
promotional products might be nice, but will your customers
relate them to your business? Instead, look at your logo and the
colors that you normally associate with your business service or
product. If your current customers are used to a red and yellow
color scheme, choose red and yellow tie-dyed items instead of
working with a rainbow of colors.
The product's specific function is important as well. In short,
no one wants promotional products that they can't use. Look for
items that fit into your theme, but with also are useful.
Promotional mouse mats, promotional coasters, letter openers,
and printed mugs are always a good idea. If your promotional
product isn't useful, it's likely to get tossed out at the end
of the day!
Remember too that not every promotional item you carry to a
convention or trade show has to fit into your theme 100%. You
can have some generic items, like promotional pens or printed
keyrings, as well. These items are great to purchase in bulk and
keep for a number of years, even as your theme changes over
time.
At the end of the day, never make your theme more important
than you message—that you're the best company in your field.
Although themed business promotional products and marketing
gifts can be a lot of fun, your customers want to be assured
that you provide top of the line products or services, not that
you know how to match items into a theme. Take the time to make
sure that your message is clear, and you should be able to excel
no matter what theme you choose.
