Friendship
Author: Phil Dawson

We all have friends and we enjoy their company, well at least
most of our friends. How did these friendships come about? Was
it a chance meeting or whilst you were doing something you
enjoy; a hobby or at a party maybe a wedding or some other
function.

Suffice it to say there was a time when you did not know your
friends although you may have seen them from a distance, maybe
a riotous crowd on a night out or walking past them at college
or school or in the mall. You may have passed judgement on them
for better or worse even though you did not know them; you did
not know, then, you would get to know them. And now?

We can laugh at the thoughts we had before we knew our friends,
even if we had never seen them before, that is to say we have
our standards and some people just don't meet them. That is
until you finally meet and get to know them. When you do you
will find that there is much to explore.

Is there any truth in what is written above? If there is we
should start looking at friendship differently, unless we have
a limited capacity for friendship.

Friendship, is not necessarily `knowing' someone it is not even
`having' to know someone. Friendship is about how much
confidence you have in yourself.

Have you ever noticed how those who are very confident have
many friends? Part of being confident is being approachable,
attracting others that are of a similar mind.
Sometimes friends are just nice people, people you greet in the
morning: The ones that take the trouble to return your greeting.

Remember you don't know your NEW friends YET, in just the same
way at one time you didn't know your current circle of friends.

Treat everyone in a friendly manner, wear a slightly obnoxious
grin and notice the response from all around you. Their smile
will make you feel good, in turn your smile will become
infectious and before long people will want to get to know this
happy individual. YOU!

More friendship will surely follow.
