Dead Poets Society:
Publishers and Their Fight to Keep Knowledge Offline
WASHINGTON, March 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Pat Schroeder's Association of
American Publishers has sued Google to prevent it from continuing to
scan works from the world's top libraries and create a "card
catalogue" for users. They contend this violates copyright law. This
Friday, March 10th, a bipartisan panel of legal experts and academics
will discuss the fallacies of this argument and examine the
implications of innovative new technologies like Google Book Search
that give the public broader access to knowledge.
