New for Video iPod: Download Your Edited Home Video with a Click; Send
Your Raw Footage to Pictureal, Then Point and Click for iPod Viewing
2006 International CES
LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 5, 2006--If you're the proud owner of
an Apple video iPod, here's a way to get more mileage out of the
player's breakthrough 2.5" screen: transfer your home video with a few
clicks from your Pictureal video scrapbook.
Just send your raw footage to Pictureal via a pre-paid FedEx kit
available as part of a free trial through www.pictureal.com, and
within days a professionally edited version will be posted online
along with the unedited footage and a scene index. (Your original
tapes will be returned.) Choose the scene you want, click "Download to
iPod" on the Pictureal menu, add the file to your iTunes library, and
it will show up on your Video iPod the next time you sync -- with none
of the complications of codecs, bit-rates and complex software
settings otherwise required to import video to the iPod or other
portable devices.
The Pictureal site also offers easy-to-use templates and tools for
turning home video footage into short music videos, video greetings
and photo montages. These shorts or even your raw unedited video can
also be transferred from Pictureal to the video iPod by following the
same steps.
Either way, you can show off your fraternity party, baby's first
birthday or your fly fishing trip wherever your video iPod takes you.
Each iPod download costs just $1.99 and eliminates the complex
procedures that would otherwise be required to convert the original
digital or video footage to a format that can be handled by the video
player. As a bonus, the iPod-friendly footage is actually an MPEG-4
file that can be transferred to other devices ranging from PDAs and
cell phones to Sony PSPs and personal websites.
Pictureal accepts video by upload or in any format including VHS,
S-VHS, VHS-C, MiniDV, Hi8, Digital8, MicroMV, DVCAM, Beta and DVD.
Pricing for tapes shipped begins at $29 per hour of video sent, with
prepaid packages ranging from $99 (3 hours of video and one DVD) to
$299 (12 hours of video and three DVDs).
