imX Solutions, Inc. Creates 'Next Generation' Gift Card
Metro Detroit Company Signs Delivery Butler as First Client;
Cards Become Active This Month
ROYAL OAK, Mich., Jan. 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Created to meet the growing
trend of online shopping, Royal Oak, Mich.-based imX Solutions, Inc.
offers consumers a prepaid, digital stored valued gift card designed
for use over the Internet. The imX Card provides consumers with a safe
and secure way to do business online.
With imX's signing in December 2005 of its first client, Delivery
Butler -- a restaurant delivery service for 125 restaurants in
Southeastern Michigan for businesses or individuals -- the company
launched its prepaid Internet card program from its technology
development center in Royal Oak.
"imX's products have the potential to change the online buying
industry, as 61 percent of U.S. Internet users state that they would
buy more online if they did not have to use their credit card," said
Jim Downes, chief executive officer, imX Solutions, Inc. "Our safe and
secure payment approval technology reduces the hassle and concern
associated with shopping online."
The imX Card -- a business-card sized CD-ROM -- utilizes a unique
encryption token technology. Sold through retail outlets and activated
at the point of sale, the imX Card will direct consumers to e-commerce
sites for online shopping. imX Cards allow customers to participate in
a brand-building, immersive multimedia experience.
This technology offers a multitude of benefits over traditional
pre-paid cards, including: ease of use; safe and secure online
transactions; a multimedia shopping experience; as well as many
marketing and branding opportunities. It also has the potential to be
a collector's item for consumers. In addition, the imX Card can help
marketers by providing a unique payment solution to maximize
cross-selling between e-commerce, traditional retail and catalog
channels.
imX was recently awarded a process patent for its method of using a
CD-ROM (or other recordable, removable media) to authenticate online
financial or monetary transactions. The company's patented technology
satisfied the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council's
2006 mandate requiring all U.S. banks offering online banking to
implement a two-factor authentication method. Two-factor
authentication requires users to provide two factors to verify their
identity -- something they know (such as a user name or an ID), as
well as an authenticator from something they have in their possession
(such as imX's Card).
Founded in September 2003, imX Solutions, Inc. is a Royal Oak,
Mich.-based company focused on creating fun, easy and safe
