Open Source Visionaries to Keynote Red Hat Summit 2006; Cory Doctorow

RALEIGH, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 11, 2006--Red Hat (NASDAQ: RHAT),

announced that world renowned visionaries Cory Doctorow, noted author
and fellow at the Electronic Frontier Foundation and Eben Moglen,
Chairman of the Software Freedom Law Center, will keynote the second
annual Red Hat Summit in Nashville, Tenn. The Red Hat Summit will be
held May 30-June 2, 2006 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort and Convention
Center in Nashville.
The industry's premiere open source knowledge exchange, Red Hat Summit
2006 is expected to draw current and future Red Hat customers and
partners from around the world. In addition to Mr. Doctorow and Prof.
Moglen, Red Hat Summit 2006 will feature a variety of well-known
industry speakers, hands-on technical workshops, a technology lab,
roundtable discussions and product demonstrations, as well as sessions
geared toward key open source issues and technologies including
security, virtualization and storage.
Mr. Cory Doctorow currently serves as a fellow to the Electronic
Frontier Foundation (www.eff.org), a non-profit civil liberties group
that defends freedom in technology law, policy, standards and
treaties. Before his recent appointment, he served as the European
Affairs Coordinator for the EFF. In addition to being a published
science fiction novelist and accomplished technology writer, Mr.
Doctorow worked extensively at the United Nations and various

Mr. Eben Moglen is a professor of law and legal history at Columbia
University is the founder and chairman of the Software Freedom Law
Center and, serves pro bono as general counsel for the Free Software
Foundation. He was awarded the Electronic Frontier Foundation's 2003
Pioneer Award for contribution to freedom in the electronic society
and also serves as a director of the Public Patent Foundation.
