California's Stem Cell Initiative Saturday 11:50 a.m.
In the 2004 election, 70 percent of California voters approved

research. Out of this initiative grew the California Institute
for Regenerative Medicine, a new state agency that already has
begun awarding grants for stem cell research. The passage of
Prop. 71 and subsequent efforts to implement it have faced
significant opposition. In this panel, several of the key
players involved in the initiative will address the
entrepreneurial challenges they have faced while pushing for a
controversial, dramatic policy change.
