Pope Benedict XVI arrived at Andrews Air Force Base today beginning a six day visit, his first as Pope, to the United States. President Bush, along with his wife Laura and daughter Jenna were on hand to greet the pontiff as he arrived to much fan fare and anticipation.

Benedict, who turns 81 tomorrow, has a full schedule ahead of him, not least of which is dealing with the controversy surrounding the clergy sex scandal that has tarnished the Roman Catholic Church in the United States.
