Spitzer was reported on March 10, 2008 to have told senior staff that he had been involved in a prostitution ring, and was due to make a statement later in the day. According to the New York Times' website, Spitzer was huddled with his top aides and was set to make an announcement around 2:15pm (1815 GMT) in New York City after earlier abruptly canceling his scheduled public events for the day.The report did not spell out Spitzer's alleged involvement, saying only that the governor had informed his most senior administration officials that he had been involved in a prostitution ring.
