The Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen presented her new
collection of summer sandals to journalists in Berlin on Tuesday (April 29).
The collection known as G2B has been created together with designer Mark
Ipanema.
Bundchen is especially proud of the collection because part of the
profits will go towards the preservation of ground water sources in Brazil.
According to Bundchen, this represents 13 percent of the world's drinking
water requirements.
"I was able, with the flip flops in some ways, to make it so much
bigger because it's a product and people are already aware of it and now I can
use it in some ways to introduce an idea of something I care about. And they
should care about too because it's our world, you know. So it works great. I
feel proud that I go to work and I feel like I'm doing something good and I
can give money to something I believe in. And I can bring awareness to
something I believe. So that makes my job worth doing, you know,"
Bundchen told Reuters.
Bundchen was born in Brazil in 1980. For five years she often in the
press because of her relationship with American actor Leonardo Di Caprio. She
recently hit the headlines when she began dating football star Tom Brady,
while his girlfriend at the time was pregnant with his child.
Even if Gisele keeps her private life to herself, she has no problems
emphasizing what an important role her family plays in her life:
"I think family is very important. And I do come from, I have five
sisters, I have a big family and my parents have been married for 37 years.
I'm so proud of that and I'm so proud of my family and my sisters and my
parents. And we are very close. And I feel very grateful for that too.  So
because that's my example obviously that's what I want for my life. I would
love to have a big family."
But Bundchen also pointed out how hard she finds it at times to cope
with the pressure of having a superstar lifestyle.
"I want to go out of my house and go to the market and it's
embarrassing. You're walking down the street and there are twenty guys taking
your picture. So now suddenly, all these people that, I live in New York you
know, that would just be  walking by you now they're staring at you and it
feels uncomfortable. Now you feel like you're this monster or this weird
thing, that you're not going to just walk in the street. Everybody is staring
at you. It's uncomfortable."
And despite her fame, the supermodel insists she's actually quite timid
at heart.
"I don't really go to clubs so much because I do like to be in bed
by ten or eleven, because I do like to wake up around 630. So a club is not
really my thing. But I don't think, I don't go onto guys, do you know what I
mean. My concern is not, i'm kind of shy actually, when it comes to guys.
Especially when you like someone. I'm like, oh no, and look the other way.
I'll blush I think."
According to reports by Forbes Magazine, Bundchen is the highest paid
model in the world, making her the 16th wealthiest woman in show business. She
has put her face to more than 20 international labels and has appeared on the
cover of more than 500 magazines.
