U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama draws high marks from the public in
her first 100 days for her sense of style and devotion to family.

She has only been on the job for 100 days, but First Lady Michelle Obama
has managed to dazzle the public. She can make a fashion statement as she did
on Inauguration Day, comfortably socialize with the high and mighty, and just
as easily get down and dirty. A recent USA Today/Gallup Poll found that 79
percent of Americans like the job she's doing as first lady.

Lindsay Bucha is a contributor to TheDailyBeast.com.

"I think that she's done a fantastic job, opening herself up, making
herself accessible to the public and really presenting herself as a mother, as
an individual, as a fabulous first lady and the country is loving it, the
world is loving it," saisd Bucha.

She hasn't yet taken up a major cause as her predecessors have, but first
lady historian Carl Anthony says that's OK given the recession.

"I think in this situation Michelle Obama has very wisely decided
to hold back a little bit, first of all so it doesn't distract from the
important economic package," Anthony said.

But stylistically, she takes risks. She's comfortable wearing affordable
labels. She can also catapult a designer's career by donning their garments.
And her sleeveless look has made some bloggers question whether it is First
Lady-like.

That doesn't bother some people on the streets of the fashion capital, New
York.

"She's the first one we've had in a while that has some fashion. I
like it!"

"She's so smart, she's graceful, she's inspiring, I really feel like
she's really active and she takes the job seriously I think she's
great."

Yet, she's not above getting on her hands and knees to plant a vegetable
garden at the White House. She's come a long way since making comments on the
campaign trail that made conservatives question her patriotism. Today, she's
widely seen as down to earth, family focused, and fashion friendly.
