NEW YORK, Aug. 5 /PRNewswire/ -- David Kirby, author of the New York Times bestselling book "Evidence of Harm, Mercury in Vaccines and The Autism Epidemic" (St. Martin's Press), will present his findings and the importance of additional autism research at a Cure Autism Now-sponsored meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 15 in New York City. Dr. Clara Lajonchere, Director of CAN's Autism Genetic Resource Exchange (AGRE), will also be available to discuss autism research.

Kirby will speak at a meeting of the New York chapter of Cure Autism Now, a national organization committed to accelerating the pace and progress of autism research and treatments. The meeting will also feature an overview on Cure Autism Now and information on the second-annual WALK NOW New York event, which will take place at Battery Park on Oct. 22.

"Evidence of Harm" details the ongoing debate over whether the use of a mercury-based preservative in vaccines has contributed to the autism epidemic in America, with a current incidence rate of one in every 166 children. Kirby has been awarded the Investigative Reporters and Editors 2005 Award for Outstanding Investigative Reporting in a Book. Kirby will be discussing recent developments in science, in the media and on Capitol Hill.
