Authorities say an autopsy is planned in the Bahamas for actor John
Travolta's 16-year-old son, who died suddenly during a vacation at his
family's resort home.

NASSAU, BAHAMAS (JANUARY 2, 2009) DAVID CURRAN -
Police said on Saturday (January 3) an autopsy would be performed to
determine the cause of the death of the teenage son of actor John Travolta,
who died suddenly during a family vacation in the Bahamas.

The Travolta family lawyer, Michael Ossi, said Jett Travolta, 16,
suffered a seizure at his family's vacation home at the Old Bahama Bay resort
on Grand Bahama Island.

Police say Travolta's eldest child had been found unconscious in a
bathroom at his family's home.

The teen apparently hit his head and a caretaker found him unconscious in
the bathroom on Friday morning. He was taken by ambulance to Rand Memorial
Hospital in Freeport, where he was pronounced dead, according to a statement
from the Royal Bahamas Police Department.

Jett, who had a history of seizures, was the eldest child of Travolta
and his wife, actress Kelly Preston. They also have an 8-year-old daughter,
Ella.
The family, who have homes in California and Florida, arrived in the
Bahamas for a New Year get together on Tuesday by private plane, police said.

They had planned to stay until Jan. 9.
Ossi said Travolta and his wife, actress Kelly Preston, were
"distraught" over the loss of their son. Both have said previously
that he became very sick when he was a toddler and was diagnosed with Kawasaki
disease, which leads to inflammation of the blood vessels in young children.

"At this point we know that John and Kelly Travolta's only son
Jett Travolta had a seizure. All attempts were made to revive him were
unsuccessful and he died," Ossi said.
Travolta's publicists declined to comment on autopsy or funeral plans.
