PARAMOUNT VANTAGE VNR -
Top winners at the 66th Annual Golden Globes briefly ducked
backstage after collecting their trophies to answer questions from the
press.

British actress Kate Winslet won two awards.
33-year-old Winslet claimed the trophy for best actress in a drama for
her role as a frustrated housewife in "Revolutionary Road" and the
second for best supporting actress for playing a German woman with a hidden
past in "The Reader."

"It was such a special time for all of us making the film, and to
work with Sam for the first time, and to walk away with something like this as
a result of that collaboration is unbelievable. And I'm always going to have
it. And, and it's remarkable to have been here so many times, and to not have
won so many times, to win twice in one night."

It is only the third time in the history of the awards that one
performer has won two acting awards.

Winslet is married to Sam Mendes, who directed his wife and Leonardo
DiCaprio in "Revolutionary Road" in their first on-screen pairing
since "Titanic" a decade ago.

The romance "Slumdog Millionaire" swept the show with four
wins, including best drama, to give it a push in the race for Oscars.
Director Danny Boyle shared his sentiments on taking the top prize and
more.

"They have this extraordinary expression which I hope I pronounce
correctly, these guys will tell me, that which in Hindi when you do something,
you should do something from the heart, which is 'dilse,' D-I-L-S-E. And the
film was made from the heart, really, and every moment that we made it, and we
never expected to be here."

"Slumdog," which tells of a young Indian man looking for
love and competing for money on a television game show, also earned awards for
Boyle, 52, screenwriter Simon Beaufoy and composer A.R. Rahman for best
musical score.

Mickey Rourke won Best Actor for his comeback film "The
Wrestler."

56-year-old Rourke was frank about past missteps that resulted in his
being banished from Hollywood for more than a decade.

"It was not about giving up. It's about, you know, if you
misbehave, and you're not accountable, and you, I didn't deal, I didn't care
about repercussions and you pay the price for that, you know. It's like any
profession, I tried to beat the system and it beat the shit out of me. And so
it took me, you know, 13, 14 whatever years to, you know, for the doors to
open up again."

London-born actress Sally Hawkins stole the Golden Globe for Best
Actress Comedy or Musical away from veteran thespian Meryl Streep with her
portrayal of an optimistic teacher in "Happy-Go-Lucky."

Hawkins talked about meeting Meryl for the first time after winning
the award.

"I've never met her before," shared Hawkins, 32. "She
said, 'Are you happy now?' Uh, I mean, yeah. 'Yes, Meryl. I'm happy.' And,
she's adorable. So that was a bit surreal to say the least."
And Israeli director Ari Folman, 46, won Best Documentary for
"Waltz With Bashir" about the horrors of the 1982 Lebanon war.

Folman expressed regret that war was and still is a reality.
"Well, unfortunately the film always really relevant. It has only
one major statement, which is an anti-war statement, of course. And it is
relevant now. And it was unfortunately it was relevant two years ago when we
were working on it. So, that's how it is."

The Golden Globe Awards are given out each year by some 90 members of
the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA).
