The latest celebrity news including a new star at the box office, Winehouse
connects with fans and Uma engaged.
DISNEY/PIXAR STUDIOS -
Another strong weekend at the North American box office, where
Disney/Pixar's latest offering, "Wall-E" opened at the No. 1 spot.
Early numbers show the computer animated family film was a big hit, taking in
an estimated 62 million dollars (USD) in its opening weekend.
That was good enough to hold off the action flick, "Wanted."
The Angelina Jolie/James McAvoy thriller though more than held its own, taking
in a better than expected 51 million dollars. Last week's champ, the comedy
"Get Smart" rounded out the top three.
Amy Winehouse connecting with her audience, literally. The singer, who
was performing Saturday (June 28, 2008) at the Glastonbury music festival,
reportedly jumped off the stage to try to punch a fan in the crowd while
performing her hit song 'Rehab'. Winehouse's performance at the festival was
put into doubt after her father told British media that the singer was
suffering from the lung disease emphysema.
Good news for Actress Uma Thurman. The 38-year-old star of the "Kill
Bill" movies, is reportedly engaged to London financier Arpad
"Arki" Busson. Thurman was previously married to actor Ethan Hawke,
with whom she has two children.
