in his latest big screen movie 'Made of Honor'
SONY PICTURES -
Handsome leading man Patrick Dempsey, a.k.a. "Dr.
McDreamy" in television drama "Grey's Anatomy," knows what it's
like to be the romantic lead. In his is new big screen adventure, Dempsey
plays Tom, a man who realizes that instead of continuing with his one night
stands, he actually wants to settle down and marry his best friend Hanna,
played by Michelle Monaghan .
Said Dempsey: "I had a really good time, it was a lot of work,
because we were constantly working on the script and Paul was a wonderful
director because we did a lot of improvisation and he made it relaxed and easy
and hopefully that's the experience you get when you're watching it."
Monaghan wasn't at the screening, but director Paul Weiland told
Reuters TV why casting Dempsey, was a no-brainer:
"He looks great doesn't he , and the hair is always perfect. It's
like it's kind of scrunched up and yeah sometimes it's hard for a woman to
play opposite such an attractive man, but Michelle held her own ."
"Yeah I slapped him around a bit because me not being quite as
handsome as him, you wanna make it , you wanna make him look a little bit
silly so I think I succeeded in that don't you think."
In the film, Dempsey not only has to compete with Hanna's handsome
Scottish fiancee, but is also reduced to wearing a Scottish kilt, in extra
small size, courtesy of Hanna's cousin, who Tom had seduced but broken up with
once before, and who seeks revenge for her broken heart.
"It was good, we had several fittings, it was very short and then
it got a little longer and then it came back to being short again." said
Dempsey.
Last year, Dempsey was named as People magazine's "Star Of The
Year".
Dempsey, was featured on the cover of the celebrity magazine's year-end
issue that focuses on the best -- and the worst -- of the year.
Responding to what it meant to be a 'sex symbol' and what his wife
Jillian thought of it, he laughed:
"She knows me and still loves me so I think that's a good
thing."
Dempsey's 'Grey's Anatomy' success as a doctor, his good looks and now
big screen endeavour bring another good-looking doctor to mind. The ER's
George Clooney:
"Oh it's all fun, you know everybody likes to put a label on
something and he's a nice guy, he's done a great job in his career and you
know it's flattering to being mentioned ...he's a greta guy yeah he's an easy
guy to get along with , he's an old-fashioned movie star so it's a wonderful
compliment."
Meanwhile, 'Made of Honor' can be seen in cinemas across the UK from
May 2.
