The album showcases the five-time Grammy ® winner as she puts her stylish and soulful stamp on a mix of classic and contemporary holiday songs. Rhino celebrates the season with the re-release of Dionne 's Yuletide classic. MY FAVORITE TIME OF THE YEAR will be available October 16 at all retail outlets and online at www.rhino.com for a suggested list price of $11.98.
The 13-track compilation showcases Dionne solo and with friends, including fellow legend Gladys Knight, saxophonist Dave Koz and gospel great BeBe Winans.
Her distinctive alto shines as Dionne makes each well-known holiday standard and carol her own. MY FAVORITE TIME OF THE YEAR features her charming and elegant interpretations of "The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire), " "Joy To The World," "Silver Bells," and "I 'll Be Home For Christmas."
Dionne is joined by several friends on MY FAVORITE TIME OF THE YEAR, sharing the spotlight with her dear friend Gladys Knight on "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas." The delightful diva duet soars thanks to a brilliantly Bacharach-ian arrangement that accompanies the singers' heartfelt emotions. Smooth jazz star David Koz adds his sophisticated touch throughout the album, playing sax on several songs.
In addition to the 12 holiday standards included in the collection, MY FAVORITE TIME OF THE YEAR also features "I Believe In Christmas." A Yuletide classic-in-waiting, the song was written by the irrepressible BeBe Winans, who joins Dionne for a memorable duet.
Warwick is currently on tour, performing around the world. An electrifying vocalist, she made her debut in 1962 with the single "Don't Make Me Over. " A Billboard® Top 20 pop/Top 5 R&B hit, the song was written by her long-time collaborators Burt Bacharach and Hal David.
