News Pulse of the New California

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 23, 2006--California Secretary
of State Bruce McPherson will join Congressman Mike Honda (D-CA), as
well as mayors, media magnates, and corporate executives at the NCM
"Ethnic Pulitzer" awards on January 26 at the Fairmont Hotel in San
Jose.

The Awards showcase both the people and the stories making news - and
the reporters, editors and producers behind the stories. These are the
journalists at the forefront of the fastest growing segment of
American journalism.

"The NCM Awards are one of the most diverse gatherings of journalists
and their audiences anywhere in the country," says Sandy Close,
executive director of NCM. "Ethnic media learn from each other,
mainstream media learn from the ethnic media - and we get more
inclusive journalism as a result."

NCM's goal to promote the editorial visibility and economic viability
of this critical sector of American journalism culminates every year
at the NCM Awards Banquet. This year, NCM judges - themselves a who's
who of California journalism - selected winners from more than 300
entries in a dozen languages.

This will be the seventh Awards Banquet held since 1998 and marks the
beginning of a new era for NCM. At the Awards, NCM will announce its
name change to New America Media as it expands nationwide to recognize
ethnic media's national presence.

NCM recognizes Business Wire, Black PR Wire and Hispanic PR Wire for
their generous support in providing press release distribution,
promoting the 7th Annual NCM Awards Banquet honoring excellence in
ethnic media.
