Rubbish In Campania: A Hidden Truth
Author: Ettore Panella
Everyone should know that Campania is a wonderful region where
Italian and foreign tourists can find almost everything:
beautiful landscapes, a wonderful transparent sea, a tasteful
gastronomy, made of delicious typical products, as cheese,
mozzarella, wine, pasta and cakes, friendly people, and so on.
The whole world has seen the photos of mountains of rubbish in
Campania. We believe that these photos are not fair. Journalists
should stress that this terrible and difficult problem does not
involve the Province of Salerno. Bins full of rubbish, terrible
smells, tourists rejecting the idea of coming to this wonderful
region, this is the portrait of Campania offered today by media
to the world. We would like to underline the fact that the
Province of Salerno has no reason to worry: it includes the most
effective towns of Southern Italy in the waste recycling. The
process for the collection of rubbish is now actually operating
very well in all tourist places in the province of Salerno:
Positano, Amalfi Coast, for example, Cilento Coast and in the
centre of Salerno, where streets are clean and do not show any
signs of rubbish.
Everyone knows that Naples is the most important town of
Campania and all the inhabitants of this wonderful region
actually suffer seeing all the rubbish in the streets. But
Campania is not Naples and Naples does not represent Campania.
The problems of Naples cannot be considered the problems that
the whole region lives. Media should explain that the problem of
rubbish in Naples is not a problem of this wonderful region, but
it is a terrible situation of a beautiful town, Naples.
Campania absolutely cannot become a frightening place for
tourists and foreigners. A holiday in Campania provides
experiences that are full of surprises. If you choose to spend a
holiday in Campania you can go to the sea, visit the inner
picturesque villages and towns, live in the wonderful nature and
enjoy beautiful oasis. We should not forget that Campania is
also rich of history and culture.
We do not aim to make a complex analysis about the
responsibilities in this crisis; this is not the aim of our
portal, that only wants to promote the beauties of these
beautiful territories, where tourists can find treasures they do
not even imagine. We just want to make everyone know that in the
streets of Salerno and its province there is no rubbish and life
goes on as usual. 60% of the province of Salerno is considered a
UNESCO world heritage and includes very important tourist towns,
as Positano (http://www.positanonline.com), Amalfi
(http://amalfi.starnetwork.it), Ravello (http://www.ravello.it),
Amalfi Coast (http://www.amalficcoast.com), Paestum
(http://paestum.starnetwork.it), Velia (http://www.velia.it),
Palinuro (http://www.palinuro.it), the National Park of Cilento
and Vallo di Diano (http://www.cilentopark.it). All these
beautiful places are not experiencing any problems with rubbish.
Tourists can visit them and take advantage of the many
possibilities offered during this period.
We hope that all the areas covered by rubbish will soon find
the best solution for this difficult and sad problem.
