Panel of Key Evangelical Leaders to Discuss Effects of New Moral Agenda on 2008 Elections
WASHINGTON, Jan. 16 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The following is being issued by Sojourners, Beliefnet and the National Association of Evangelicals Christian Student Leadership Conference:
WHAT: Hosted by Sojourners and Beliefnet in collaboration with the National Association of Evangelicals Christian Student Leadership Conference (CSLC): An interactive panel discussion with evangelical leaders on the significant yet very different role that religion is playing in this presidential election compared to that of 2004. Once a reliable base of support for Bush's presidency, the evangelical voting block has eroded as their priorities have expanded beyond a narrow agenda based on gay marriage and abortion. White Evangelicals constitute roughly 26% of the electorate, and at least half of them are moderate or even progressive now and genuinely "in play" this election season.
This diverse panel will tackle what the new evangelical agenda means for the outcome of the primaries, the presidential race and more importantly, the future of America.
