The Art Of War And Dating
Author: Marvin Perry

The Art of War is a book written by an almost unknown
general, who goes by the name of Sun Tzu, approximately
half a thousand years ago. The truths revealed and the
principles contained in that treatise have never been truer
than it is now. More than that, the applicability of its
principles encompasses that of literal and actual combat.
Furthermore, the book's wisdom reaches out to almost every
aspect of life. The Art of War is like a master key which
unlocks the door to winning in every known situation -
including dating.

Laying Down of Plans

"If you know yourself and the enemy, you will always win.
If you know yourself but not the enemy, sometimes you will
win and sometimes you may not. If you do not know yourself
or your enemy, you will always be defeated." Most dates
fail because of a mismatch. This means that either you
don't know what you're looking for in a date or you don't
know what to expect from your date (personality, beliefs,
culture, etc.) or you are not ready to be the perfect date
or all of the above.

"The warriors of old, before they went into battle, first
made themselves invincible." This principle, when applied
to dating, means that you must first be ready for a date
before you can count on a second date and a lasting
relationship. In order for your date to be mesmerized by
you, you must ascertain that she sees you as attractive or
a possible lover and this can only be accomplished through
the "use of spies". To know what she thinks, how she
thinks, and why she thinks that way will be invaluable in
your quest to get her attention and win her heart.

Going to Battle

Now being privy to the desires of her heart you must waste
no time in making them a reality. In war as in dating, the
element of surprise is a vital factor. If you know that she
likes flowers, send her the best bouquet or if she likes
poetry, then make an effort to unleash the bard in you and
overwhelm her with rosy words so that her heart will melt
for you. This gives testimony to the adage, "To fight and
conquer in all your battles is not supreme excellence;
supreme excellence consists in breaking the enemy's
resistance without even fighting".

"The general who wins a battle makes many calculations in
his temple before the battle is fought. The general who
loses a battle makes but few calculations. Thus do many
calculations lead to a victory, and few calculations to
defeat; how much more no calculation at all," so says James
Clavell in his study of the Art of War, which you can
clearly apply to dating as well.

Dating, like all other kinds of human endeavor, has a goal.
For most if not all people, the goal of dating is to find a
match, a lover, a soul mate. With The Art of War as a
guide, you can achieve success in dating.
