Your Own Personal Genie: Creating Your Universe

We've all had the experience of wanting something that has
eluded us. Maybe it's wealth, possessions, maybe it's a
relationship, maybe it's optimum health or other physical
attributes which for some reason or another we have not been
able to conjure up.
When my wife and I were looking for a new home, we created what
I call a 'vision board'. We got specific about exactly what we
wanted--over 4,000 square feet, near the water and the
mountains, in the Pacific Northwest, and my wife added, just as
a lark, something she had wanted since she was a child--a
gazebo. A vision board requires some poster board, a glue stick,
magazines, photos, crayons, whatever you want, really, and we
collaged our dream home, mapped it out including the water,
mountains and gazebo.
Six months down the line our Realtor showed us our exact dream
house, down to the gazebo.
Sure, it sounds crazy. I can even almost hear all the naysayers
out there negating the very idea of us creating our dream house
with some art supplies and collage. My job here isn't to turn
you into a believer. I am passing on what has worked for me and
my students and I happily invite you to take it or leave it. My
sincerest wish for you is that you take it.
So... how does it work?
In an earlier post I spoke of befriending our
other-than-conscious gentle giants-the great unconscious. And if
you haven't yet read that article, please do so. There is some
powerful information on how we can ask for help when we need it
and get it.
How it works--everything we think about, everything we look at
and concentrate on, we attract to us. When we contact our gentle
giants, we again are asking for exactly what we want.
Keep this very important distinction in mind: we are not asking
for what we do not want, we are asking for what we do want. It's
a very important detail. If you're saying, 'I don't want any
more debt', you are bringing yourself more debt. If you are
saying, 'I don't want another bad relationship', you are asking
for more of the same.
By concentrating on the positive, physically making a vision
board, it gives it energy and sets our intention to speed up our
ability to manifest exactly what we want.
When you have finished your vision board, put it somewhere
where you will look at it for at least ten minutes a day. Maybe
have it on the wall in your bedroom next to your bed. It will be
the first thing you see when you wake up in the morning.
A student of mine has scanned his and made it wallpaper on his
computer. He even made a web page so that he can access it from
any computer and bring up his image anywhere, any time.
Another cool thing you can try is to scan the vision board,
shrink it down and print it out to the size of a 3 by 5
photograph. This creates a travel sized copy that you can take
anywhere.
